There are more shops, including 3 supermarkets in Valledoria (Sisa is probably the best, also a Spar and Eurospin which is the cheapest). The nearest beaches are at Badesi (6km) which is quieter, but beware the parking charges and there is a beach at Valledoria (8km). Both have beautiful sandy beaches and a beach bar for drinks, hot and cold snacks. The regional capital is Sassari (50km) and it is the second city of Sardinia. Other places of interest nearby include the pretty mountain village of Aggius and the nearby Valle della Luna (Valley of the Moon); Tempio (30km) which is the capital of Gallura; Castlesardo (15km), an ancient town perched on a volcanic headland overlooking the sea; Isola Rossa (15 km) a small fishing village with harbour; and Santa Teresa di Gallura (65km) where there are daily ferry crossings to Corsica about 12 kms across the sea.
